Hello!  My name is Samantha Curson and I am the founder of the Hear Me Sing vocal coaching academy in Derby.

A little bit about me...

I am a Professional vocalist and singing teacher based in Derby.  I live with my partner, twin boys and two doggies Ella and Maisie. Music has been a passion of mine from an early age which led me pursuing a career in the industry. I did my music training through the University of Derby specialising in Popular Music and Creative Music production. My qualifications include a BA (Hons) Music, FdA Creative Music Production, Grade 8 in Popular Music Vocals, and Musical Theatre from the University of West London and a BTEC National Diploma in Musical Theatre. I have been singing professionally for over fifteen years and have performed in various venues around the country. Gaining knowledge and experience through further education and working within the music and performance industry has enabled me to specialise in vocal technique, performance, singing audition preparation and help with singing examinations. I have also completed Estill Voice Training Levels 1&2, joined the BVA (British Voice Association) and AOTOS (Association of Teachers of Singing) and continue to attend many conferences and development sessions.

I have been working as a vocal coach for over a decade now. I always knew I wanted to share my passion for singing and music with others. I work with students of all ages and abilities focusing every vocal lesson around them and their goals, whether it is to become a professional vocalist or simply that they just love to sing.

 

 

I am extremely proud of all my students and what they have achieved and continue to do so. Some of my singing students have appeared in West end shows (Les Miserables, Mary Poppins) TV and film (The Voice UK, The Worst Witch) and many others that I have helped with online singing lessons have been offered places at some of the top performing arts institutions in the UK.

In addition to one to one private singing tuition I also lead vocal workshops, musical theatre workshops and drama workshops at various schools and colleges in Derbyshire and the East Midlands. I have other experiences in musical directing youth theatre and have previously worked with Leicester Theatre Group where I musical directed their productions of Seussical and Boogie Nights.
